Margaret Brooks

Honorary Advisor and Thematic Expert for Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth)

Prof. Margaret Brooks, a graduate of Brown University, is the Director of Financial Literacy and Economic Education and Professor of Economics at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts, USA. She is a distinguished economist who is often quoted in the press and also a well-known advocate for online education. Prof. Brooks has offered innovative economics workshops and programs for New England teachers and students for over 20 years. She also regularlyorganizes successful conferences and programs on the topic offinancial education.

Prof. Brooks serves as the President of two non-profit organizations: the Rhode Island Jump$tart Coalition and the Rhode Island Council for Economic Education. In 2015, RI Jump$tart was awarded the 2015 Best Practice Advocacy Award by the RI Foundation. In 2016, Prof. Brooks was honored to receive the national 2016 EIFLE (Excellence in Financial Literacy Education) Educator of the Year Award.
